"Dave's Allotment"

chickensA few years ago, the previous owners, Dave and Diana Muir, transformed a redundant acre of land situated behind the nursery (walk past the main shop entrance and keep going and you’ll find it). From this concept a ‘model allotment’ has been managed for several years to inspire and encourage customers to get the ‘grow your own’ bug and see how easy it is to grow your own food from scratch.

The allotment demonstrates most of the opportunities that are available to an allotment gardener from vegetable plots to a chicken run. You can consider the different types of allotment activity that appeal and fit in with your own garden size and just go for it. 9 times out of 10, it is a question of planting up, watering and enjoying the results (with chickens being the exception!). All our customers are very welcome to come up and wander round, ask questions and see how easy it can be.

Named in memory of Dave Muir, Dave’s Allotment is worked on by a group of willing volunteers of all ages who give up their time in return for a rewarding session in the allotment and the spoils of their labours. The group meets regularly and is always looking to recruit new volunteers for the coming months. If you are interested in getting involved, email us at info@theplantplot.com.
