National Nest Box Week
13th-20th February 2010

Get your garden kitted out with a cosy ‘love-nest’ for visiting birds in time for Valentine’s Day and be part of the British Trust for Ornithology’s National Nest Box Week.
 
Boxes are available for blue tits to barn owls – you can easily make your own from leftover pieces of timber or buy a ‘fully-furnished’ one from The Plant Plot and get a free pack of bird food with every nesting box purchased.
 
Providing nesting sites in your community helps to promote biodiversity – with the disappearance of hedgerows and woodland areas, it is vital that birds have somewhere safe to make their nests.  The BTO have been running NNBW for ten years now and it is thought that almost 6 million bird boxes have been installed around the country.  
 
Go on – give your local birds a love-nest to be proud of!
